Sankofa Bird – Crane

In the Akan tribe, the translation of “Sankofa” is “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind”. It advises one to consider an issue before stepping ahead. A pair of Sankofa birds symbolizes love. Typically carved as a Crane (pictured) or a Duck but any bird can be used upon request with the Sankofa symbolic look. Please note at checkout whether you wish to have a male or female Sankofa. They are not anatomically correct and almost look the same, but our crafters know the difference.
